Christian Jacqmin named CEO with special responsibility for the Lagassé Group’s business in Europe
Louis Lagassé, Chairman and founder of Groupe Lagassé, the holding company for a group of companies specialising in telecoms manufacturing and integrated solutions in Europe and Canada, is pleased to announce that the Group’s Board of Directors and Supervisory Board have approved the appointment of Christian Jacqmin as President of the Executive Committee of the Lagassé Group internationally, and as CEO with special responsibility for managing the Lagassé Group’s business in Europe.
This appointment will strengthen the Lagassé Group’s management team by giving it a permanent top management presence on the ground in Europe.
Christian Jacqmin takes up his appointment with effect from 1 September 2009.
A Belgian national and a civil engineer by training, Christian is an expert on business organisation and development, with over 25 years’ experience in the administration and management of manufacturing, commercial and service groups. A born communicator, he is known for his energy and entrepreneurial spirit, combined with a rigorous approach to business. His career has been both multi-national and multi-sector.
From November 1995 to August 2008 Christian was CEO of Belgian group Sonaca. He transformed it from a company in financial difficulties in 1995 into an international industrial group at the forefront of technology in the aeronautical and space construction sector, with operations in Brazil, Canada and the United States, recognised today as the world leader in wing leading edges.
More recently he carried out another rescue, restructuring and refinancing, this time of the French-Canadian aeronautics and automotive group Mecachrome, where he was CEO from November 2008 to March 2009.
His main objectives for the Lagassé Group will be to ensure the sustainable development of the group’s activities and investments, and to manage its commercial development by breathing new life into marketing and sales of new products and cultivating privileged relations with major customers and prospects.
Groupe Lagassé Europe (GLE) is specialised in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of complex communications products, particularly secure professional mobile radio (PMR) communication systems and private branch exchange (PBX) systems.
Thanks to its team of over 1,400 employees around the world, the Lagassé Group achieved total sales for 2008 of over €155m, of which €115m in Europe.
